The Nintendo E3 2021 show is on the horizon, and recent leaks suggest that there will be two new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters revealed.
Nintendo fans are getting prepared as the countdown to the Direct showcase happens today, June 15th at 09:00 PT, 12:00 ET, and 17:00 BST. Viewers will be able to watch it on the company’s official website or YouTube channel, and the broadcast will be followed by a Treehouse event.
While the upcoming event has been mostly tight-lipped, there are some rumours that will excite fans if true.
What to expect from Nintendo at E3 2021
Nintendo has confirmed that their E3 2021 showcase will last 40-minutes and that it will exclusively focus on software that is mostly coming out this year. This emphasis on software suggests we will not see the much-rumoured Switch Pro, and this casts doubts about any potential release before 2022.
Games fans can expect to see Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but there should also be Zelda related content as it’s the series’ 35th anniversary. Animal Crossing New Horizons may also be present, but the biggie everyone wants to see is Breath of the Wild 2.
Seeing as the event will focus on software mostly coming out this year, any hypothetical Breath of the Wild 2 inclusion will probably be a very brief tease.
Nintendo E3 2021 leaks
One of few leaks for the E3 2021 Direct is that two Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters will be revealed. This rumour comes because of the YouTube playlist for Nintendo, Masahiro Sakurai, saying two unavailable videos are hidden.
The playlist comprises of Smash Bros. videos, but it could just be a mistake on the video game publisher’s part. Another rumour suggests that Zelda‘s 35th anniversary will see remasters/re-releases of Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker due to a GameStop poster.
Who are the Rumoured DLC fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Leaks suggest that one of the possible DLC fighters to be revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the Doomguy from DOOM Eternal. This rumour comes from a copyright strike that saw Nintendo remove a fan-made DOOM Eternal television ad with the song LifeLight.
Another rumour suggests that Crash Bandicoot could be one of the DLC fighters. This is because it’s the series’ 25th anniversary and its official Twitter account that posted a picture with a mostly hidden checklist and other possible clues.
Lastly, fans are hoping that a fighter to be revealed is Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden. A Ninja Gaiden Master Collection has just been released, and the protagonist has been eagerly awaited on for a long time.
