Ubisoft has announced that it is currently working on a sequel to Mario + Rabbids, the launch title for Nintendo Switch, which will be released in 2022.
The new entry is called Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and will follow as Nintendo and Ubisoft mascots Mishmash Crew travel to a new planet.
According to the game developers, the game offers the same tactical combat as the first game, but with some action-based elements that attract first-time players.
“It’s not just a new story of new enemies and new heroes-Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has great ambitions,” says Ubisoft lead producer Xavier Mansanares.
The plot revolves around the Luma infused with the Rabbits gene. The Rabbits gene gives new power when rescued, starring several new characters like Rabbits Rosetta.

The game is certainly a bit of a niche, but it’s an important landmark for the Ubisoft-Nintendo partnership. This shows that two notorious defensive publishers are sharing work to create new entries in the combined franchise.
That said, it looked a bit sparse next year, filling the gap in the Nintendo Switch release calendar. Other than Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Splatoon 3, Nintendo has not specified a 2022 release date for future releases, but it is subject to change after the next Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, June 15.
Hopefully Big N will contact you on Tuesday to give you a better idea of when heavy hitters like Metroid Prime 4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Bayonetta 3 can be expected.
