E3 day one yesterday was…not the greatest, between an underwhelming Ubisoft show, a flat-out bizarre Gearbox presentation and it was up to Devolver, of all studios, to more or less salvage the day. But now we have the big Microsoft Xbox presentation today, and fans have high hopes for some big reveals.
First, when to watch: 10 AM PT/1 PM ET, and the show will be 90 minutes long.
Where to watch: Here’s the YouTube stream below, or here’s a Twitch link if you prefer that instead.
And finally, what to expect? Or not expect? A few different things that we know already, or are hearing rumors about.
Obviously Halo Infinite is going to feature heavily in today’s show, and we will likely get some information about a multiplayer beta, if I had to guess.
Confirmed for the Xbox show are Far Cry 6 (which we already saw at the Ubisoft show) and Battlefield 2042, which will probably be showing gameplay to join the trailer we already saw for it earlier this month.
According to insider Jeff Grubb, we should not expect to see the following:
- Perfect Dark
- Hellblade 2
- IOI’s Project Dragon
That’s quite a long list of high profile titles, but ones that are not ready to be featured yet, if Grubb’s predictions turn out correct. Meanwhile, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says that there will be one big Bethesda game featured, Starfield, which will announce a late 2022 release date, in addition to giving a first look at the game itself.
Knocking so many big games off the potential reveal list is dispiriting, but I suppose it depends on how other games like Halo and Starfield showcase their potential. And there’s always the potential for unannounced games to arrive as well, as it wouldn’t be a Microsoft show these days without something like that.
There’s also the potential of some big Game Pass announcements. We’re hearing that Back 4 Blood will launch on Xbox Game Pass, so that’s something they’ve landed. I personally am hoping that Bungie may show up to announce something at the Xbox show, possibly relating to a new IP, but I think it’s ultimately pretty unlikely.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it, based on what we know so far. We’ll know more in few hours, so stay tuned.
